In Malaysia all related halal matters will be referred to this 3 main Laws/Procedures/Requirements/Guidelines;

1. Trade Description Act 1972
2. Manual Procedure of Halal Certification Malaysia – JAKIM
3. MS 1500:2009 Malaysian Standard : Halal Food – Production, Preparing, Handling and Storage – General Guidelines.

Effective 2012, under the subsidiary directive in the new amendments of Malaysia Trade Description Act, the COMPETENT AUTHORITY which mean the entrusted agency by the government for Halal Certification body is only JAKIM and MAIN.

We have been advised to convert all Halal Certification which is not from JAKIM, MAIN or Certification Bodies recognized by JAKIM to JAKIM HALAL CERTIFICATION. But since halal certification is a volunteer exercise, any companies can opt to operate without Halal Certificate or with JAKIM Halal Certificate.

With immediate effect all food premise in Malaysia must registered with Ministry of Health Malaysia. According to Food Hygiene Regulation 2009 (Regulation 3) all food premises involved in manufacturing,catering,preparation,processed,stored or served for sales and vehicles from which ready-to-eat food is sold must registered to get Certificate Of Registration For Food Premise. The certificate must be renewed every three years (Regulation 7).

SINGAPORE: 7 APRIL 2010.

BJ has successfully conduct food handler training for LT 3000 vessel catering crew.  The training is held inside the vessel at ASL Shipyard PVT LTD, Pandan Road, Singapore. The catering crew is supplied by Sodexo (M) Sdn Bhd. Licence2halal.com is the appointed food handler trainer.

Bahtera Lagenda Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Abdullah Fahim B. AB Rahmad had come out with written statement that IFRC, Halal Food Council and IFANCA Halal certificates and logos are still valid and acceptable according to Malaysia Law. Their lawyer confirmed that the instruction by MAIS (Majlis Agama Islam Selangor) is ultra vires and not relevent, therefore the prohibition has no legal binding.

Effective 4 January 2010, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) signboard licence application will required pre-approval from Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka (DBP). All applicants need to go to 25th floor, Menara DBP to get approval on the right usage of Bahasa Malaysia on the signboard.
